A Republican Decree was issued on July 6, 2023, No. 7346, and it was published in the Official Gazette the next day, No. 32241, provided that it enters into force three days after the date of its publication in the Official Gazette, and stipulates the amendment of the decision to determine value-added tax on goods and services, from By raising this tax from 8% to 10% with regard to the goods and services imposed on them, while the value-added tax imposed on sales of goods and services specified for the rate was raised from 18% to 20%, while the 1% rate imposed on some delivery and services remained. The amendment is based on Article 28 of the Value Added Tax Law No. 3065 of 1984.

On the other hand, other republican decrees were issued, some of which included raising the insurance tax and banking transactions applied to personal loans from 10% to 15%, and the registration fees for mobile phones brought from outside Turkey increased by 228% to reach 20 thousand liras instead of 6091 liras. In addition to raising the value of government transaction fees by 50%, as in the notary fees (notary public), land registry fees (real estate registration), which increased from 4% to 6%, and passport issuance fees.
The process of raising taxes and fees is considered one of the most important financial means used in order to combat inflation, as the Turkish government has stated on several occasions that it seeks to implement certain mechanisms in order to combat inflation, and there is no doubt that this step is in the interest of this endeavor.
